

Claim 1 - Milkweed bugs are like all other insects, they have six legs, three body parts(head, thorax, and abdomen), and two antennae. They are considered "true bugs"( order Hemipetera).
Claim 2- They do not have mouths for biting and chewing food. They have a tube-like beak for sucking fluids. These insects go through simple metamorphosis, which is a stage they go through from hatching to maturity.
Claim 3- Immature milkweed bugs are known as nymphs. In order to grow the nymphs they must molt periodically.
Milkweed bugs usually molt 5 times (they have 5 nymphal instars before becoming an adult)

Claim 4 - On the underside of the abdomen, the female has one black strip and two black dots. The male has two thick black strips.
Claim 5- It is very easy to observe milkweed bugs mating.
Claim 6- Milkweed bugs require no soil or green plant material. Milkweed bugs are found as far north as Ontario, Canada, but is more abundant in south-eastern United States.
